Racial Bias
Airbnb just announced the launch of a pilot in Oregon, where it will hide the names of guests until the booking is confirmed. Airbnb was sued for racial discrimination last year – and a separate study a few years ago showed that in the US, requests from guests with African American names were less likely to be accepted than people with white-sounding names.
